Charity Fannie
Hello, I am Coach Charity Fannie. I have been involved in the swimming world for 18 years now. I joined DAAC as a swimmer in 2007. I swam with DAAC until 2018. During my time at DAAC, I swam in AMS (Allegany Mountain Swimming) for a few years. It allowed me to swim in a more competitive league. In Middle School, I joined Derry's MS swim team, and then I swam for the High School team from 9th to 12th grade, where I qualified to swim at WIPIAL every year individually and on relays. In 2015, I began teaching swim lessons, and I continue to do so today. I attended Chatham University in the fall of 2018, where for the next 4 years I would swim distance freestyle (200, 500, 1000, and 1560). My sophomore year at Chatham, I placed third in the mile at our championship meet. I was lucky enough to be part of the school record-breaking 800 freestyle relay. I graduated from Chatham University in the spring of 2022 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. In January 2023, I started coaching for DAAC. I am also now an AMS coach, certified as well as the Middle School Coach for Derry. I hope I can help make your swimming experience as amazing as it can be.

Courtney Sanderson
Hi there! I’m Coach Courtney, this is my 5th year coaching swimming after 9 years of swimming for several teams at Derry. In 2010, Coach Charity and her sister got me to come and watch them swim a swim meet on a Saturday in early spring, and that next week I signed up to swim with DAAC. I signed up to stay in shape for softball, but in high school, I knew I was supposed to swim and eventually left softball after 11 years. I swam for Derry Area Middle School in 7th and 8th grade, and then moved on to swim four years for DAHS, lettering all four years, and qualifying for WPIAL four years in a row in several events like the 100 Fly, 50 Freestyle, and multiple relays. Just a couple years after graduating in 2018, Derry Indoor Pool was calling my name to come back. Now since January 2021, I have been on the pool deck, coaching the next generation of Derry Area swimmers. Derry’s swim community is like no other, where swimmers become coaches and work with their very own coaches they had. So we can’t wait to have you join our team and grow up in Derry’s pool!
